Covingham Park Primary School

Young Carers

As a school we are committed to providing support to all our pupils and their families.

Covingham Park are undertaking the 'Young Carers Award' in order to raise awareness and  provide support to pupils who are Young Carers and playing a very important role within their families.

Young Carers are children whose lives are affected by looking after someone. This may include physical or learning disabilities, long term illness, mental health illness, or drug or alcohol challenges. This may be a parent, brother, sister or other family member. The care they may give maybe physical or emotional. These responsibilities may include:

Housework

Lifting

Shopping

Giving Medication

Looking after brothers or sisters

Cheering them up

Helping fill in forms

Reminding them to do things
