At Covingham Park Primary School, our Design and Technology curriculum is crafted to inspire young minds, igniting their curiosity, and fostering resilience.  We aim to provide a stimulating and inclusive environment where children are encouraged to explore, imagine, and innovate.

Our curriculum is designed to:

·        Inspire Creativity: We expose students to a wide range of materials, tools, and techniques, encouraging them to explore and express their ideas. By studying both contemporary and historical designs, students learn to appreciate the diverse ways in which design and technology shape our world.

·        Ignite Curiosity: We provide opportunities for students to investigate and experiment, fostering a love of learning and discovery. Through engaging projects, students ask questions, test their ideas, and learn through trial and error. This curiosity drives them to delve deeper into subjects and develop a lifelong passion for design and technology.

·        Build Resilience: We teach students the importance of perseverance and adaptability. They learn to approach problems methodically, understanding that failure is a natural part of the learning process. By reflecting on their experiences and adapting and evaluating their designs, students build the resilience needed to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.

Our goal is for students to leave primary school with the skills and confidence to approach problems creatively and collaboratively. We want them to feel inspired by the world around them, to be curious about how things work, and to possess the resilience to keep pushing boundaries. Ultimately, our Design and Technology curriculum aims to equip children with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to become innovative problem-solvers and enthusiastic learners in an ever-changing world.
